SOUNDS OF "KANKLES" MUSIC IN U.S.A.

The most popular Lithuanian folk music is that of "kankles" (musical instrument similar to the zither) and of horn wind instruments. There many such instrumental ensembles in Lithuania, bet one of the very best is THE LITHUANIAN NATIONAL MUSEUM ENSEMBLE "KANKLES". The ensemble's director is Lina Naikeliene, the most renowed of Lithuania's "kankles" musicians and teachers. Other members of the ensemble are: Virginija Alenskiene, Ausrele Juskeviciene, Eugenijus Ciplys, Irmantas Andriunas and Joana Gedmintaite-Slepikiene.
